Description

This Bunny Bait recipe is a delightful and colorful snack mix perfect for Easter or any festive occasion. Combining crunchy pretzels, Honey Nut Cheerios, Chex cereal, salted peanuts, pastel M&M’s, and sprinkles coated in creamy white chocolate, it offers a sweet and salty flavor with a satisfying crunch, all ready in just 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Snack Mix:

  • 2 cups pretzels
  • 2 cups Honey Nut Cheerios
  • 3 cups Chex (rice or corn)
  • 1/2 cup salted peanuts
  • 1 cup pastel M&M’s (Easter M&M’s)
  • 1/2 cup pastel sprinkles

Coating:

  • 10 ounces white chocolate (Ghirardelli wafers recommended)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mix: In a large mixing bowl, combine the pretzels, Honey Nut Cheerios, Chex cereal, salted peanuts, pastel M&M’s, and pastel sprinkles. Gently mix to evenly distribute all the ingredients.
  2. Melt the White Chocolate: In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the 10 ounces of white chocolate wafers in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until completely smooth and melted. Be careful not to overheat.
  3. Coat the Snack Mix: Pour the melted white chocolate over the mixed ingredients. Using a spatula, gently fold and stir to coat everything evenly with the chocolate.
  4. Set the Bunny Bait: Spread the coated mix onto a parchment-lined baking sheet or tray in an even layer. Allow the mixture to cool and harden completely at room temperature or place in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes to speed up the setting process.
  5. Break and Serve: Once the white chocolate is set, break the Bunny Bait into bite-sized clusters. Store in an airtight container until ready to serve.

Notes

  • You can substitute pastel M&M’s with plain M&M’s or other colorful candy melts for different occasions.
  • White chocolate can be melted using a double boiler if preferred to avoid overheating.
  • Mix gently after adding the chocolate to prevent breaking the pretzels and cereal too much.
  • Store the Bunny Bait in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve freshness.
