Description

A simple and hearty recipe for Cabbage and Ground Beef, a delicious one-pan meal that is perfect for a quick and satisfying dinner. Tender cabbage cooked with seasoned ground beef in a savory tomato-based sauce.

Ingredients

Scale

Ground Beef:

  • 1 pound ground beef

Other Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion (chopped)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 small head green cabbage (cored and chopped)
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes (with juice)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • Optional red pepper flakes for heat

Instructions

  1. Heat Olive Oil: In a large skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  2. Cook Onion and Garlic: Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.
  3. Cook Ground Beef: Add ground beef and cook until browned and crumbled, about 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat if needed.
  4. Add Remaining Ingredients: Add cabbage, diced tomatoes with juice, beef broth, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Stir to combine.
  5. Simmer: Cover and simmer on medium-low heat for 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until cabbage is tender and flavors have melded.
  6. Adjust Seasoning and Serve: Adjust seasoning to taste and serve hot.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, add Worcestershire sauce or tomato paste.
  • This dish pairs well with rice or crusty bread.
