Description

This Cheddar Biscuit Breakfast Casserole is a delicious and satisfying morning meal that combines flaky biscuits, savory sausage, eggs, and cheese baked to perfection.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Casserole:

  • 1 (16 oz) can refrigerated biscuit dough (cut into quarters)
  • 1 lb breakfast sausage (crumbled)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions or chives (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook Sausage: In a skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until browned and fully cooked; drain excess grease and set aside.
  3. Prepare Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Assemble Casserole: Place biscuit pieces in the baking dish, top with cooked sausage, pour egg mixture over, and add cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until set and golden brown.
  6. Rest and Serve: Let it rest for 5 minutes, garnish with green onions or chives, then slice and serve warm.

Notes

  • You can prep this casserole the night before and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • Swap the sausage with cooked bacon or chopped ham if preferred.
  • For a spicy twist, use hot sausage and add a pinch of crushed red pepper.
