Description

Cheeseburger Sliders are a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer or snack perfect for parties and gatherings. These mini burgers combine seasoned ground beef, melted cheddar cheese, and a touch of mayonnaise on soft dinner rolls, baked to golden perfection with a buttery sesame seed crust.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat Mixture

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef (90/10 or 93/7 fat content)
  • ½ tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ large yellow onion, finely diced
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise

Cheese

  • 8 slices medium cheddar cheese
  • 6 ounces medium cheddar cheese, shredded (or more sliced cheese if preferred)

Assembly and Topping

  • 24 dinner rolls
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted (plus more to grease baking sheet)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a rimmed baking sheet generously with melted butter to prevent sticking and add flavor.
  2. Cook ground beef and onions: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the finely diced onion and ground beef, breaking the meat up with a spatula. Season with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Cook until the beef is fully cooked through and the onions are softened.
  3. Drain excess fat and mix mayo: Tilt the skillet carefully to spoon off and discard any excess fat. Stir in the mayonnaise thoroughly into the cooked ground beef mixture to add moistness and creaminess.
  4. Assemble sliders: Cut each dinner roll in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves on the prepared baking sheet. Line each roll bottom with a slice of cheddar cheese, then spread the ground beef mixture evenly atop. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top, and finish by placing the top halves of the rolls over the filling to close the sliders.
  5. Brush and bake: Brush the tops of the rolls with the melted butter and sprinkle sesame seeds evenly over them. Bake in the preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes, or until the cheese inside is nicely melted and the tops of the rolls are golden brown and slightly crispy.

Notes

  • Use lean ground beef to reduce grease and maintain a juicy texture.
  • Mayonnaise adds extra moisture—do not skip it for best flavor and texture.
  • You can substitute or add different types of cheese based on preference.
  • Make sure to brush the tops with melted butter to promote browning and add richness.
  • If you want smaller sliders, use mini dinner rolls and adjust cooking time slightly.
