Ingredients
Scale
Bagels
- 4 plain or everything bagels, halved
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Spinach-Artichoke Mixture
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 (10-ounce) package frozen spinach, thawed and well-drained
- 1 (14-ounce) can artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ¼ cup sour cream
- ¼ cup mayonnaise
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
- Sauté Garlic: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until it becomes fragrant, releasing its aroma without browning.
- Cook Spinach and Artichokes: Add the thawed, drained spinach and chopped artichoke hearts to the skillet. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes to evaporate any excess moisture, ensuring the mixture doesn’t become soggy. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly.
- Mix Cheese Base: In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, salt, black pepper, and optional red pepper flakes. Stir thoroughly to create a smooth and creamy base.
- Add Spinach-Artichoke Mixture: Fold the cooled spinach and artichoke mixture into the cheese base until evenly blended, making sure the mixture is creamy and well incorporated.
- Assemble Bagels: Place the bagel halves cut-side up on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Spread a generous layer of the spinach-artichoke cheese mixture evenly over each bagel half.
- Bake: Bake the prepared bagels in the preheated oven for 10–12 minutes, or until the cheese topping is bubbly and golden brown, indicating that they are fully heated through and ready to serve.
- Serve Warm: Remove from the oven and serve warm for the best flavor and texture, perfect for breakfast, brunch, or as a party appetizer.
Notes
- You can use mini bagels for bite-sized appetizers which are great for parties.
- For extra cheesy flavor and a golden crust, sprinkle additional mozzarella or Parmesan cheese on top before baking.
- These bagels can be made ahead of time and reheated in the oven to serve fresh.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, increase the amount of red pepper flakes.
