Ingredients
Scale
Chili Layer
- 1 can (15 oz) chili with beans
Hot Dogs and Dough
- 6 beef hot dogs
- 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
Topping
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions (optional)
- 1 tbsp melted butter (optional for brushing)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F to prepare for baking the casserole.
- Prepare Chili Base: Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and spread the canned chili with beans evenly across the bottom.
- Wrap Hot Dogs: Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Wrap each beef hot dog in a crescent dough triangle, starting at the wide end and rolling toward the tip to fully encase each hot dog.
- Assemble Casserole: Place the wrapped hot dogs evenly on top of the chili in the baking dish.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and cooked through.
- Add Cheese: Remove from the oven and sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the hot dogs. Return the casserole to the oven for an additional 3 to 5 minutes until the cheese melts completely.
- Finish and Serve: Remove from the oven again, optionally brush the tops with melted butter for extra richness, and sprinkle with chopped green onions. Serve warm and enjoy!
Notes
- Swap beef hot dogs for turkey or veggie dogs to fit your dietary preference.
- For extra heat, add diced jalapeños or a pinch of cayenne pepper to the chili before baking.
