Description

This decadent Chocolate Cheesecake Trifle is a no-bake, layered dessert featuring a crunchy Oreo cookie crust, rich and creamy chocolate cheesecake filling, and luscious whipped cream. Perfect for gatherings, it combines the best of cheesecake and trifle for an indulgent treat that’s easy to assemble and sure to impress.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 24 Oreo cookies, finely crushed
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Cheesecake Filling

  • 16 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • ¼ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup milk (or non-alcoholic Irish cream-flavored coffee creamer)

Whipped Cream

  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (or non-alcoholic Irish cream-flavored coffee creamer)

Garnish

  • Chocolate shavings

Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: In a medium bowl, combine the finely crushed Oreo cookies and melted butter. Mix until the texture resembles wet sand. Press this mixture evenly into the bottom of a trifle dish or individual serving glasses. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow the crust to set firmly.
  2. Make the cheesecake filling: In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and powdered sugar together until smooth and creamy. Add the unsweetened cocoa powder, vanilla extract, and milk or non-alcoholic Irish cream-flavored coffee creamer. Continue beating until all ingredients are well incorporated and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Whip the cream: Chill a mixing bowl, then beat the heavy whipping cream with powdered sugar and milk (or Irish cream creamer) until stiff peaks form. This will add lightness and volume to the trifle layers.
  4. Assemble the trifle: Layer half of the Oreo crust at the bottom of the dish or glasses. Spread half of the chocolate cheesecake filling evenly over the crust. Top with half of the whipped cream layer. Repeat the layers using the remaining Oreo crust, cheesecake filling, and whipped cream. Garnish the top with chocolate shavings to add texture and visual appeal.
  5. Chill to set: Place the assembled trifle in the refrigerator and chill for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight. This resting time helps the flavors meld beautifully and ensures the dessert is firm enough to serve.

Notes

  • Use non-alcoholic Irish cream-flavored coffee creamer for a richer flavor twist.
  • Ensure cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • For a firmer crust, press the Oreo and butter mixture firmly and chill well before layering.
  • This dessert is best served chilled and should be stored in the refrigerator.
  • Chocolate shavings are optional but add a lovely finishing touch.
