This dessert offers a perfect balance of chocolate and peanut butter, baked to perfection for a luscious treat that’s perfect for any celebration or cozy gathering.

Ingredients

Scale

Cake Batter

  • 2 sticks Butter (melted)
  • 1 package German chocolate cake mix (15.25 ounces)
  • 3 large Eggs (divided)

Filling and Topping

  • 1 package Cream cheese (8 ounces, softened)
  • 1 cup Peanut butter
  • 2 cups Confectioners’ sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup Peanut butter chips
  • ½ cup Creamy peanut butter
  • ½ cup Heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, German chocolate cake mix, and 2 of the eggs. Mix thoroughly until smooth and well combined to form the cake batter.
  2. Mix Cream Cheese Filling: In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with 1 cup peanut butter, confectioners’ sugar, 1 egg, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy, ensuring no lumps remain.
  3. Assemble Cake Layers: Pour half of the cake batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan. Evenly spread the cream cheese and peanut butter filling over the batter. Top with the remaining cake batter, spreading carefully to cover the filling.
  4. Add Chocolate & Peanut Butter Chips: Sprinkle semi-sweet chocolate chips and peanut butter chips evenly over the top layer of cake batter for added texture and flavor.
  5. Bake the Cake: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the assembled cake for approximately 50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with only a few moist crumbs.
  6. Prepare Peanut Butter Cream Drizzle: While the cake bakes, whisk together the creamy peanut butter and heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat until melted and smooth, then remove from heat and set aside.
  7. Cool and Drizzle: Allow the cake to cool slightly after baking. Drizzle the warm peanut butter cream over the top before slicing to enhance the gooey texture and peanut butter flavor.
  8. Serve: Slice the cake into 12 equal pieces and serve warm or at room temperature for maximum indulgence.

Notes

  • Make sure the cream cheese is softened to room temperature for easy mixing.
  • For an extra gooey texture, serve the cake slightly warm.
  • You can substitute the peanut butter cream drizzle with caramel sauce for variation.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator and bring to room temperature before serving.
  • Use full-fat cream cheese and peanut butter for best flavor and texture.
