Description

This festive Christmas Tree Appetizer is a vibrant, no-cook party platter that combines layers of colorful ingredients like cheese, piquanté peppers, grapes, olives, salami, pretzel sticks, and fragrant rosemary to resemble a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. Perfect for holiday gatherings, it’s easy to assemble and offers a delightful mix of flavors and textures.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese and Meat

  • 1 cup cheese cubes
  • 3 ounces sliced salami

Vegetables and Fruits

  • 4 piquanté peppers
  • 1 cup green and red grapes
  • 1/2 cup mixed olives

Other

  • 5 to 8 small pretzel sticks
  • 2 tablespoons rosemary sprigs

Instructions

  1. Arrange the Cheese Cubes: Place a few cheese cubes at the top of a large platter or board in a triangle shape to form the tip of the Christmas tree.
  2. Layer the Ingredients: Add a layer of piquanté peppers below the cheese, followed by a layer of green grapes, then a layer of cheese cubes again. Continue layering with sliced salami, a layer of red grapes, and finally a layer of mixed olives to build out the tree shape.
  3. Create the Tree Trunk: Use the pretzel sticks to form the trunk at the bottom center of the tree shape by arranging 5 to 8 sticks vertically.
  4. Add Rosemary Sprigs: Tuck several rosemary sprigs into the edges around the tree layers to mimic pine needles and add a festive aroma and decorative touch.

Notes

  • This appetizer requires no cooking, making it quick and easy to assemble.
  • Substitute salami with a vegetarian option if desired.
  • Use seedless grapes for easier eating and fewer messes.
  • Piquanté peppers can be replaced with mild sweet peppers to adjust spiciness.
  • Keep ingredients chilled until assembly to maintain freshness.
