Ingredients
Scale
For the Crust
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter (melted)
For the Cheesecake Filling
- 16 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs (room temperature)
For the Topping
- 1 tbsp cinnamon sugar
- 1 cup whipped cream (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Preparation: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures the oven is ready once the crust and filling are prepared.
- Make the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Mix until the mixture resembles wet sand. Press this crumb mixture evenly into the bottom of a springform pan to form the crust.
- Prepare the Cheesecake Filling: In a large mixing bowl, blend the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy, scraping down the sides as needed to avoid lumps. Continue mixing for about 2-3 minutes.
- Add Eggs: Add the eggs one at a time to the cream cheese mixture, mixing on low speed after each addition to incorporate them smoothly without overbeating.
- Combine and Bake: Pour the cream cheese mixture over the prepared crust, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Place the springform pan in the preheated oven and bake for 55-60 minutes. The cheesecake should be set around the edges but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- Cool: Remove the cheesecake from the oven and allow it to cool at room temperature for about one hour. Then transfer it to the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours or preferably overnight to fully set.
- Prepare Topping: In a small bowl, prepare the cinnamon sugar by combining sugar and cinnamon evenly.
- Serve: Before serving, generously sprinkle the cinnamon sugar topping over the chilled cheesecake. Optionally, serve with a dollop of whipped cream for added richness and decoration.
Notes
- For best results, use room temperature eggs to ensure a smooth batter.
- To avoid cracks, do not overmix the batter and avoid opening the oven door during baking.
- If you don’t have a springform pan, a regular cake pan can be used but the cheesecake might be more difficult to remove.
- The cheesecake tastes best after chilling overnight, allowing flavors to meld and texture to firm up.
- You can adjust the cinnamon sugar quantity to suit your taste preference.
