Description

A Classic Margarita cocktail featuring a perfect balance of tequila, lime juice, and Cointreau, rimmed with salt for a refreshing and zesty drinking experience.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Glass Rim

  • Sea Salt or Kosher Salt, for rimming the glass
  • Lime wedges or wheels, for rimming and garnish

For the Cocktail

  • 1 oz fresh lime juice (from approximately 1 medium lime)
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 2 oz tequila
  • Ice, as needed

Instructions

  1. Salt the Glass Rim: Take a lime wedge and run it all along the top rim of a glass to moisten it. Pour sea salt or kosher salt onto a small plate and gently dip the moistened rim into the salt until it is evenly coated. Fill the glass with ice to chill.
  2. Mix the Cocktail: Add the freshly squeezed lime juice, Cointreau, and tequila into a cocktail shaker along with a handful of ice. Shake the mixture vigorously for about 10 seconds until well chilled.
  3. Serve: Strain the chilled margarita over the prepared ice in the glass. Garnish with a lime slice or wheel on the rim for an elegant presentation.

Notes

  • Use freshly squeezed lime juice for the best flavor.
  • Choosing a good quality tequila, preferably 100% agave, enhances the drink’s taste.
  • Adjust the sweetness by adding a splash of simple syrup if desired, though traditional margaritas are tart and balanced.
  • For a frozen margarita variation, blend the ingredients with ice instead of shaking.
