Description

Cotton Candy Rice Krispies Twists are a delightful and colorful twist on the classic treat, featuring swirls of pink and blue marshmallow-coated cereal with a fun cotton candy flavor. Perfect for parties or a sweet snack, these soft and chewy bars are easy to make and visually appealing with optional pastel sprinkles or edible glitter.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 (10-ounce) bag mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 teaspoon cotton candy flavoring or extract
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • Pink food coloring (optional)
  • Blue food coloring (optional)
  • Pastel sprinkles or edible glitter (optional)
  • Nonstick spray or butter for greasing

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan: Lightly grease a 9×13-inch pan with butter or nonstick spray to prevent sticking and allow for easy removal of the treats.
  2. Melt butter and marshmallows: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the mini marshmallows and stir constantly until they are completely melted and the mixture is smooth. Remove the pot from heat once melted.
  3. Add flavoring: Stir the cotton candy flavoring into the melted marshmallow mixture to infuse the sweet, nostalgic cotton candy taste.
  4. Divide and color the mixture: Evenly divide the marshmallow mixture into two separate bowls. Add a few drops of pink food coloring to one bowl and blue to the other, stirring quickly to blend the colors evenly.
  5. Mix in cereal: Immediately add 3 cups of Rice Krispies cereal into each bowl. Stir each mixture until all the cereal is fully coated with the colored marshmallow mixture.
  6. Form the layers: Working quickly, drop spoonfuls of the pink and blue mixtures alternately into the prepared pan to create a swirled, colorful effect.
  7. Press and decorate: Gently press the mixture down into an even layer using a buttered spatula or wax paper. While still warm, optionally sprinkle with pastel sprinkles or edible glitter for extra festive appeal.
  8. Cool and cut: Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature for 30 to 60 minutes until set. Once cooled, cut into squares or twist shapes as desired for serving.

Notes

  • Cotton candy flavoring can be found in baking stores or online specialty shops.
  • Avoid overpacking the mixture when pressing into the pan to keep the treats soft and chewy.
  • Store the treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
