  • 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, drained and pressed
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare Tofu: Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and place them in a mixing bowl. This size ensures even cooking and crispiness.
  2. Marinate: Drizzle the tofu cubes with soy sauce and sesame oil. Gently toss to coat each piece evenly with the marinade, which adds flavor and moisture.
  3. Season and Coat: Sprinkle cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper over the tofu. Toss again carefully so all cubes are well coated; the cornstarch helps create a crispy crust.
  4. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes to ensure even cooking from the start.
  5. Air Fry Tofu: Arrange the tofu cubes in a single layer in the air fryer basket, making sure the pieces do not touch to allow proper air circulation. Air fry for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to promote even crisping until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.
  6. Serve: Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired for added flavor and a beautiful finish.
