Description

Indulge in the crispy and flavorful delight of this classic Crispy Chicken Schnitzel Recipe. Perfectly seasoned and fried to golden perfection, this dish is a favorite for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken Schnitzel:

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Breading:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups plain breadcrumbs (or panko for extra crispiness)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

Other:

  • vegetable oil for frying
  • lemon wedges and fresh parsley for serving

Instructions

  1. Pound the Chicken: Place the chicken breasts between two sheets of plastic wrap and pound them to about ¼-inch thickness using a meat mallet.
  2. Prepare Breading Station: In a shallow dish, mix the flour with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In a second dish, whisk together the eggs and milk. In a third dish, combine breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese if using.
  3. Bread the Chicken: Dredge each chicken breast first in the seasoned flour, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture, pressing lightly to help it adhere.
  4. Fry the Chicken: Heat about ½ inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the breaded chicken breasts for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Serve: Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with lemon wedges and fresh parsley.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, use panko breadcrumbs and ensure the oil is hot enough before frying.
  • Leftovers reheat well in the oven.
  • Pair with mashed potatoes, cucumber salad, or potato salad for a classic meal.
