Description

This Crock Pot Chicken and Gravy recipe is an easy, comforting slow-cooker meal perfect for busy days. Tender chicken breasts simmered with onions in a flavorful cream of chicken soup and gravy mix create a rich and creamy sauce that pairs perfectly with mashed potatoes or rice.

Ingredients

Scale

Chicken and Vegetables

  • 1 cup diced yellow onions
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts

Sauce

  • 10.5 oz can condensed cream of chicken soup
  • 2 packets chicken gravy mix
  • â…“ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon ground sage
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon parsley flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crock Pot: Spray the inside of the Crock Pot with cooking spray to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Add Onions and Chicken: Place the diced yellow onions evenly at the bottom of the Crock Pot. Arrange the boneless, skinless chicken breasts in a single layer on top of the onions for even cooking.
  3. Make the Gravy Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the condensed cream of chicken soup, two packets of chicken gravy mix, water, ground sage, black pepper, and parsley flakes until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Cook the Chicken: Pour the prepared gravy mixture over the chicken breasts in the Crock Pot. Cover the Crock Pot with its lid and cook on the LOW setting for 5 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the chicken to become tender.
  5. Finish and Serve: After 5 hours, remove the lid and gently stir the chicken and gravy, breaking the chicken apart as you mix to create a shredded texture. Serve the chicken and gravy hot over mashed potatoes or rice for a hearty meal.

Notes

  • Use boneless, skinless chicken breasts for easy shredding and consistent cooking.
  • The gravy mix packets add extra flavor, but you can substitute with homemade gravy if preferred.
  • Serving over mashed potatoes or rice helps soak up the delicious gravy sauce.
  • Cooking on LOW for 5 hours yields tender, juicy chicken; avoid cooking on HIGH to prevent dryness.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated; the gravy may thicken upon standing so add a splash of water while reheating if needed.
