Description

These deep-fried strawberry cheesecake wonton bites are bite-sized desserts featuring a creamy, sweet strawberry cheesecake filling wrapped in crispy wonton wrappers. Perfect for parties or as a delightful treat, these golden, crunchy bites combine luscious cream cheese, strawberry jam, and fresh strawberries for a delicious twist on classic cheesecake.

Ingredients

Scale

Filling

  • 8 oz Cream Cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1/4 cup Strawberry Jam or Preserves
  • Fresh Strawberries, diced (optional)

Assembly

  • 20-24 pieces Wonton Wrappers
  • Water, as needed for sealing the edges

For Frying

  • Vegetable Oil, as needed for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and strawberry jam together until smooth and well combined. If using, gently fold in the diced fresh strawberries to add a fresh burst of flavor.
  2. Fill the Wonton Wrappers: Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean, flat surface. Place about one spoonful of the strawberry cheesecake filling in the center of each wrapper.
  3. Seal the Wontons: Moisten the edges of each wonton wrapper with water using your finger or a brush. Fold the wrapper into a triangle shape over the filling, then press the edges firmly to seal tightly and prevent the filling from leaking during frying.
  4. Heat the Oil: Pour vegetable oil into a deep fryer or large pot and heat it to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to accurately monitor the temperature for perfect frying.
  5. Fry the Wontons: Carefully add the wonton bites in batches to the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until the wrappers turn a golden brown and crispy.
  6. Drain and Serve: Remove the fried wontons with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve warm with extra strawberry jam or whipped cream for dipping or topping.

Notes

  • Ensure the cream cheese is softened to avoid lumps in the filling.
  • Do not overfill wonton wrappers to prevent bursting during frying.
  • Maintain oil temperature at 350°F for crispy, non-greasy wontons.
  • Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
  • Can be made ahead and frozen before frying; fry directly from frozen, adding a minute to cooking time.
