Description

This Earl Grey Tiramisu is a delightful twist on the classic Italian dessert, combining the floral, citrusy notes of Earl Grey tea with the rich, creamy texture of mascarpone and whipped cream. Ladyfingers soaked in a strong brewed coffee infused with Earl Grey tea create a sophisticated base layered with a smooth mascarpone mixture, then chilled to perfection. Finished with a dusting of cocoa powder and optional garnishes like chocolate shavings and fresh berries, this no-bake dessert is elegant and perfect for tea and coffee lovers alike.

Ingredients

Scale

Coffee and Tea Infusion

  • 1 ½ cups strong brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 Earl Grey tea bags

Cream Mixture

  • 1 ½ cups heavy cream
  • 16 ounces mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Assembly

  • 1 (12-ounce) package ladyfingers (savoiardi biscuits)
  • Unsweetened cocoa powder, for dusting
  • Optional: Chocolate shavings, for garnish
  • Optional: Fresh berries, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Brew Strong Coffee: Brew 1 ½ cups of strong coffee and let it cool slightly.
  2. Infuse with Earl Grey: Add the Earl Grey tea bags to the warm coffee and let it steep for 10-15 minutes. Remove the tea bags and discard. Allow the coffee infusion to cool completely.
  3. Whip Heavy Cream: In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
  4. Combine Mascarpone and Sugar: In a separate large bowl, beat the mascarpone cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
  5. Fold in Whipped Cream: Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until well combined, being careful not to deflate the cream.
  6. Dip Ladyfingers: Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the cooled Earl Grey coffee infusion. Be careful not to soak them for too long, as they will become soggy.
  7. Layer the Ladyfingers: Arrange a layer of the coffee-soaked ladyfingers in the bottom of a 9×13 inch dish or individual serving glasses.
  8. Spread Mascarpone Cream: Spread half of the mascarpone cream evenly over the ladyfinger layer.
  9. Repeat Layers: Repeat with another layer of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone cream.
  10. Chill: Cover the tiramisu with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to meld and the ladyfingers to soften.
  11. Dust with Cocoa: Just before serving, dust the top of the tiramisu with unsweetened cocoa powder.
  12. Optional Garnishes: Garnish with chocolate shavings and fresh berries, if desired.
  13. Serve: Cut into squares or scoop into individual servings and enjoy.

Notes

  • Use room temperature mascarpone cheese to ensure smooth mixing and creamy texture.
  • Do not over-soak ladyfingers in coffee; a quick dip is enough to absorb the flavor without sogginess.
  • Chilling overnight improves flavor melding and texture.
  • Can be prepared in individual glasses for an elegant presentation.
  • For a stronger Earl Grey flavor, steep the tea bags longer but be mindful of bitterness.
  • Keep the tiramisu refrigerated and consume within 2-3 days for best quality.
