- 1 cup semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
 - 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cut into pieces)
 - 3/4 cup granulated sugar
 - 1/4 teaspoon salt
 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
 - 3 large eggs (room temperature)
 - 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder (sifted)
 
For Serving (Optional):
- powdered sugar or fresh berries
 
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease an 8-inch round cake pan. Line with parchment paper.
 - Melt Chocolate and Butter: Melt chocolate and butter in a bowl over simmering water. Stir until smooth. Remove from heat.
 - Add Ingredients: Whisk in sugar, salt, and vanilla. Cool slightly. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well. Fold in cocoa powder.
 - Bake: Pour batter into the pan and bake for 20–25 minutes until just set. Cool, then invert onto a plate.
 - Serve: Enjoy the torte at room temperature or chilled, topped with powdered sugar or berries if desired.
