Ingredients
Scale
Wonton Strips
- 12 wonton wrappers
- Vegetable oil (for frying, about 2 inches deep)
Seasoning
- Salt, to taste
- Optional: garlic powder
- Optional: Chinese five spice
Instructions
- Prepare the Wonton Wrappers: Stack the wonton wrappers on a clean surface and use a sharp knife or pizza cutter to cut them into 1/2-inch wide strips, ensuring uniform size for even frying.
- Heat the Oil: Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep skillet or pot and heat over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C), ideal for perfectly crispy wonton strips.
- Fry the Strips: Carefully drop a few wonton strips at a time into the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan, then fry for 30 to 60 seconds, flipping once until they turn golden brown and crispy.
- Drain and Season: Remove the fried strips using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel–lined plate to drain excess oil. Immediately season with salt or your choice of seasoning for enhanced flavor.
- Cool and Serve: Let the wonton strips cool slightly before serving as a crunchy snack or topping for soups and salads.
Notes
- For extra flavor, sprinkle garlic powder, chili powder, or Chinese five spice right after frying.
- These wonton strips make a delicious crunchy topping for soups, salads, or can be served with dipping sauces.
- Store leftover fried wonton strips in an airtight container for up to 3 days to maintain crispiness.
