Description
This Garlic Butter Broccolini recipe offers a quick and flavorful way to prepare tender broccolini with a rich garlic butter sauce. Perfect as a side dish, it balances the slight bitterness of broccolini with the savory essence of butter and garlic, enhanced by a hint of fresh lemon juice.
Ingredients
Scale
Vegetables
- 8 ounces broccolini, ends trimmed
Liquids & Dairy
- 1 cup water
- 3 tablespoons butter, cut into pats
Seasonings
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
- Salt & pepper, to taste
- Lemon juice (optional, for serving)
Instructions
- Boil Water: Add the water to a skillet and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Cook Broccolini: Once the water is boiling, add the broccolini and cover the skillet. Cook for 5 minutes until the broccolini is tender-crisp.
- Drain Water: Remove the lid and drain the remaining water from the skillet carefully.
- Heat Butter and Garlic: Return the skillet with broccolini to medium heat. Add butter and finely chopped garlic.
- Sauté Broccolini: Toss the broccolini often while cooking for 2-3 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and lightly cooked but not browned, and the broccolini is tender.
- Season and Serve: Season generously with salt and pepper. If desired, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the broccolini before serving for added brightness.
Notes
- Do not overcook the garlic to avoid bitterness; cook just until fragrant and lightly softened.
- Broccolini can be substituted with baby broccoli or thin asparagus if unavailable.
- The optional lemon juice adds a fresh brightness but can be omitted if preferred.
- For a dairy-free option, substitute butter with olive oil.
