Description

This Garlic Butter Shrimp and Sausage Skillet Pasta is a flavorful one-pan dish that combines succulent shrimp and savory sausage with a creamy garlic butter sauce. Perfect for a quick and delicious weeknight dinner!

Ingredients

Scale

Pasta:

  • 8 oz pasta (such as penne or fettuccine)

Garlic Butter Shrimp and Sausage:

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 8 oz smoked sausage (sliced into rounds)
  • 12 oz large shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta: Cook the pasta according to package directions in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
  2. Sauté garlic and sausage: In a large skillet, heat the butter and olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Add the sausage slices and cook for 4–5 minutes until browned.
  3. Cook shrimp: Push the sausage to the side and add the shrimp to the skillet. Sprinkle with paprika, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and cooked through.
  4. Combine: Add the drained pasta to the skillet along with the Parmesan cheese and a splash of reserved pasta water. Toss well until combined and creamy.
  5. Finish: Squeeze lemon juice over the top and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Use andouille sausage for extra spice or sub with chicken sausage for a lighter option.
  • Add baby spinach or cherry tomatoes for more color and nutrients.
