Description

This homemade granola bar recipe combines wholesome rolled oats, mixed nuts, dried fruits, and chia seeds, bound together with a warm blend of honey and almond butter. Baked until golden, these bars offer a nutritious and delicious snack that’s perfect for on-the-go energy or a healthy treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • 1 cup mixed nuts, chopped
  • 1 cup dried fruits, chopped
  • 1/4 cup chia seeds
  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup almond butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper to ensure easy removal of the granola bars later on.
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, mix together the rolled oats, chopped mixed nuts, chopped dried fruits, chia seeds, and sea salt until evenly distributed.
  3. Heat Wet Ingredients: Place honey and almond butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Stir continuously until the mixture is smooth and well combined, ensuring it doesn’t burn.
  4. Mix Wet with Dry: Pour the warm honey and almond butter mixture over the bowl of dry ingredients. Stir thoroughly to coat all ingredients evenly and form a sticky mixture.
  5. Press into Pan: Transfer the combined mixture into the prepared baking dish. Use the back of a spatula or your hands to press it down firmly and evenly for compact bars.
  6. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the edges turn golden brown and the mixture is set.
  7. Cool and Slice: Remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then lift the granola slab out using the parchment paper and cool completely on a wire rack before cutting into 16 bars.

Notes

  • Store granola bars in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week, or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • You can substitute almond butter with peanut butter or any nut butter of your choice.
  • Feel free to add or swap dried fruits depending on your preference, such as raisins, cranberries, or apricots.
  • For added crunch, sprinkle some extra nuts on top before baking.
