Description
This refreshing Homemade Orangeade recipe combines freshly squeezed orange and lemon juices with a homemade simple syrup and a touch of honey, creating a perfectly balanced citrus drink ideal for cooling down on warm days. It’s easy to prepare and can be chilled for a crisp, revitalizing beverage.
Ingredients
Scale
Simple Syrup
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
Orangeade
- 2 cups freshly squeezed orange juice (about 8 oranges)
- 2 lemons, juiced
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 2 cups cold water
- Optional: fresh mint and orange slices for garnish
Instructions
- Make the Simple Syrup: In a large pot over medium heat, combine the sugar with 1 cup of water. Stir constantly until the sugar completely dissolves, forming a clear syrup. Once dissolved, remove the pot from heat to cool slightly.
- Add Juices and Honey: Stir in the freshly squeezed orange juice, lemon juice, and honey into the simple syrup, mixing thoroughly to combine all the flavors.
- Mix with Water and Chill: Add the remaining 2 cups of cold water to the mixture and stir well. Pour the orangeade into a pitcher and refrigerate until fully chilled. Serve cold, garnished with fresh mint leaves and orange slices if desired.
Notes
- For best flavor, use freshly squeezed orange and lemon juices rather than bottled juice.
- Adjust sweetness by adding more or less sugar or honey according to your taste preferences.
- This orangeade can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- For a sparkling version, replace the 2 cups of cold water with sparkling water just before serving.
