Ingredients
Scale
Ingredients
- 2 Turkish coffee cups of water
- 2 teaspoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons medium roast, ultra-fine ground coffee
Instructions
- Combine Ingredients: Add the water, sugar, and coffee to a cezve, which is a long-handled Turkish coffee pot used specifically for this method. Stir for 30 seconds to blend the ingredients well.
- Heat Coffee: Place the cezve on a burner over low heat. Do not stir the mixture again. Allow it to gently heat for 5 to 7 minutes until a foam begins to form on the surface.
- Scoop Foam: Once the foam appears, carefully scoop it off the top with a spoon and divide it evenly between the two coffee cups.
- Continue Heating: Return the cezve to low heat and continue warming the coffee for another 3 to 5 minutes or until it foams gently again.
- Pour Coffee: Remove the coffee pot from heat and slowly pour the coffee into the two cups. Pour carefully to preserve the foam on top in each cup.
- Serve Immediately: Serve the Turkish coffee right away to enjoy its rich flavor and thick foam at the best temperature.
Notes
- For the best flavor, use freshly roasted and ultra-fine ground coffee specifically intended for Turkish coffee.
- Traditionally, Turkish coffee is served with a small glass of water to cleanse the palate.
- Adjust sugar quantity based on your taste preference; you can omit it for unsweetened coffee.
- Do not stir the coffee after initial mixing to allow the foam to develop properly.
- A cezve pot is essential to achieve the authentic brewing style and foamy texture.
