Description

Mummy Hot Dogs are a fun and easy Halloween-themed snack perfect for kids and parties. These hot dogs are wrapped in crescent dough strips to resemble spooky mummies, then baked until golden. Serve with ketchup and mustard for a playful and delicious treat that takes only 25 minutes from start to finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Hot Dogs

  • 10 hot dogs

Dough

  • 1 8-ounce package crescent dough

Optional for decoration

  • Mustard (for eyes)
  • Ketchup (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 350º F (175º C) to prepare for baking the mummy hot dogs.
  2. Prepare the dough: Unwrap the crescent dough and lay it out flat on a clean cutting board. Smooth out any perforations by gently pressing with your fingers. Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough into strips approximately 1/4 inch wide along the shorter side.
  3. Wrap the hot dogs: Take one hot dog at a time and wrap it with 3 to 4 strips of crescent dough, leaving some space to create a ‘face’ for the mummy. Allow some dough strips to hang loosely, mimicking mummy bandages for a spooky look.
  4. Arrange on baking sheet: Place the wrapped hot dogs on an ungreased baking sheet, spacing them at least one inch apart to ensure even baking.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 14 to 16 minutes until the dough is golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Add eyes and serve: Once baked, use mustard to draw eyes on each mummy. Serve warm with ketchup and mustard on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Make sure not to wrap the dough too tightly to allow it to expand while baking.
  • Feel free to use mini hot dogs or cocktail sausages for bite-sized mummy snacks.
  • Use a food-safe marker if mustard is not preferred for drawing eyes.
  • For extra flavor, you can sprinkle a little garlic powder or paprika on the dough before baking.
  • These can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking to save time during parties.
