Description

Delightfully colorful and festive, Peeps Rice Krispie Treats combine the classic crunch of Rice Krispies cereal with the sweet, marshmallowy goodness of Peeps. Perfect for spring celebrations or any fun occasion, these treats are easy to prepare and sure to bring a smile to both kids and adults.

Ingredients

Scale

Dry Ingredients

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies Cereal
  • Pastel Sprinkles (optional, for garnish)

Wet Ingredients

  • 16-20 Peeps (assorted colors)
  • 6 tablespoons Butter

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pan. Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan lightly with butter or non-stick spray and set aside for easy removal of treats.
  2. Melt the butter. In a large saucepan over low heat, melt 6 tablespoons of butter completely, taking care not to burn it.
  3. Add Peeps marshmallows. Add 16-20 Peeps to the melted butter and stir continuously until the Peeps are fully melted and combined, creating a smooth marshmallow mixture.
  4. Combine with cereal. Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add the 6 cups of Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture. Stir quickly and thoroughly to coat all the cereal evenly.
  5. Press into pan. Using a buttered spatula or wax paper, press the mixture evenly into the prepared baking pan. Make sure to press firmly to compact the treats but not too hard to crush the cereal.
  6. Add sprinkles. Sprinkle pastel sprinkles on top while the mixture is still warm for added color and texture.
  7. Cool and slice. Allow the treats to cool completely at room temperature (about 1 hour) until set. Once cooled, cut into 12 squares and serve.

Notes

  • Use variety packs of Peeps for a colorful effect.
  • Press the mixture evenly to ensure treats hold together well.
  • For easier handling, butter your spatula or hands before pressing the mixture.
  • Store treats in an airtight container to keep them fresh for up to 3 days.
  • Pastel sprinkles are optional but add a festive, decorative touch.
