  • 2 red apples (such as Gala or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • juice of half a lemon
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons apricot preserves or honey
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • flour for dusting
  • powdered sugar for garnish (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare muffin tin: Preheat the oven to 375°F and grease a standard 6-cup muffin tin.
  2. Prepare the apples: Slice the apples, core them, and cut into thin slices. Microwave with lemon juice and water, then drain and cool.
  3. Prepare the pastry: Roll out puff pastry, cut into strips, and smooth with a rolling pin. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl. In another bowl, mix apricot preserves and water.
  4. Assemble the roses: Spread a thin layer of preserves on each strip. Arrange apple slices on top, fold pastry, and roll up to form rose shapes. Place in muffin tin.
  5. Bake: Bake for 35–40 minutes until golden. Cool slightly before removing from tin.
  6. Serve: Dust with powdered sugar if desired.
