  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 810 fresh sage leaves
  • 1 clove garlic (minced, optional)
  • pinch of salt
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional)
  • 12 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)


Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan or skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the sage leaves and stir gently. Let the butter simmer until it begins to foam and turns a light golden brown, about 4–5 minutes.
  2. If using garlic, add it during the last minute of cooking.
  3. Remove from heat and season with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
  4. Stir in lemon juice if desired for brightness.
  5. Spoon the sauce over cooked pasta, gnocchi, ravioli, or roasted vegetables.
