Description

This hearty Breakfast Bake combines flaky crescent roll dough with savory turkey sausage, eggs, bell peppers, and melted cheddar cheese for a delicious and easy-to-make morning casserole. Perfect for feeding a crowd or prepping ahead for busy mornings.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough

  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent rolls (Pillsbury’s recommended)

Filling

  • 1 package (9 ounces) pre-cooked turkey sausage links
  • 5 large eggs (beaten)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons green bell pepper (diced)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit to ensure it is hot enough for baking the breakfast casserole evenly.
  2. Prepare Baking Dish: Grease a 9×13 inch baking dish thoroughly. Press the crescent roll dough into the bottom of the dish and gently push it up about half an inch along the sides to form a crust base.
  3. Slice Sausage: Cut the pre-cooked turkey sausage links into small bite-sized pieces. Spread these pieces evenly over the crescent roll dough layer to make a savory foundation.
  4. Mix Egg Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the beaten eggs, milk, diced green bell pepper, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper until fully combined.
  5. Assemble Bake: Pour the egg mixture evenly over the sausage and dough base in the baking dish. Then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese uniformly over the top.
  6. Bake: Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the eggs are fully set.
  7. Cool and Serve: Allow the bake to cool for 5 minutes after removing from the oven. Slice into portions and serve warm. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Use turkey sausage for a leaner option, but pork sausage works well too.
  • You can add other vegetables like onions or mushrooms to the egg mixture for extra flavor.
  • Make sure the eggs are fully cooked before serving for safety and best texture.
  • This dish can be prepared the night before and baked fresh in the morning.
  • Leftovers can be stored covered in the fridge for up to 3 days.
