Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts (thinly sliced)
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (divided)
- 1 tablespoon butter
Vegetables and Seasonings
- 4 cups green cabbage (thinly sliced)
- 1 small onion (sliced)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika
Finishing Touches
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (or coconut aminos for gluten-free)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Season the Chicken: In a bowl, season the thinly sliced chicken breasts with salt and black pepper evenly to enhance the flavor before cooking.
- Cook the Chicken: Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned chicken and sauté for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Once done, remove the chicken from the pan and set it aside.
- Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of olive oil along with the butter. Add the sliced onion and minced garlic, sautéing for 1 to 2 minutes until fragrant and the onions begin to soften.
- Cook the Cabbage: Add the thinly sliced cabbage and paprika to the skillet. Cook for 6 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized to bring out its natural sweetness.
- Combine and Finish: Return the cooked chicken to the skillet with the cabbage. Add the soy sauce and fresh lemon juice, stirring well to combine all the flavors. Cook for an additional 2 minutes to heat through and meld the tastes.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat and garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired. Serve the sautéed garlic cabbage with tender chicken hot, enjoying it on its own or over rice or cauliflower rice.

- Add red pepper flakes if you prefer a spicy kick.
- For extra flavor, drizzle with sesame oil just before serving.
