Ingredients
Scale
Cake Batter
- 15.25 oz devil’s food cake mix
- 3 large eggs
- 1 cup water
- ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
Toppings and Garnishes
- 14 oz sweetened condensed milk
- ½ cup caramel topping, plus extra for drizzling
- 8 oz Cool Whip, thawed
- 3 Heath bars, chopped
- Chocolate sauce, for drizzling (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare Cake Batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine the devil’s food cake mix, eggs, water, and melted butter. Mix until the batter is smooth and well combined, ensuring there are no lumps.
- Prepare Slow Cooker: Spray the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Pour the cake batter into the slow cooker and smooth it into an even layer using a spatula.
- Cook the Cake: Cover the slow cooker with its lid and cook on the HIGH setting for 2 hours. Avoid lifting the lid during cooking to maintain temperature and moisture.
- Add Sweetened Condensed Milk and Caramel: Once the cake is cooked, use the end of a spoon to poke holes all over the surface. Pour the sweetened condensed milk and ½ cup caramel topping evenly over the cake, allowing the liquids to seep into the holes.
- Cool and Chill: Let the cake cool slightly, then transfer it to the refrigerator to chill for at least 2 hours or preferably overnight to allow the flavors to meld and the cake to firm up.
- Add Final Toppings: Before serving, spread the thawed Cool Whip evenly over the chilled cake. Sprinkle the chopped Heath bars on top, then drizzle with additional caramel topping and a drizzle of chocolate sauce if desired for extra decadence.
- Serve: Serve the cake warm or cold by scooping out portions with a spoon. Enjoy this rich, moist dessert that’s sure to impress!
Notes
- Make sure not to lift the lid during slow cooking to ensure the cake cooks evenly.
- Chilling the cake overnight enhances the flavor and texture.
- Use room temperature eggs for better batter consistency.
- Optional: Drizzle with chocolate sauce in addition to caramel for extra richness.
- Heath bars can be substituted with similar toffee candy bars if unavailable.
