Ingredients

Scale

Protein and Vegetables

  • 1 pound beef sirloin, thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced

Sauce and Oils

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

Others

  • 8 ounces cooked noodles
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Sliced green onions, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prep Ingredients: Thinly slice the beef sirloin, mince the garlic, slice the onion and red bell pepper. Cook the noodles according to package instructions and set aside.
  2. Heat Oil: In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering and hot.
  3. Cook Beef: Add the sliced beef sirloin to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until the meat is browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Sauté Aromatics: In the same skillet, add the minced garlic and sliced onion. Sauté for about 2-3 minutes until fragrant and softened.
  5. Add Bell Pepper: Add the sliced red bell pepper to the skillet and continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes until it starts to become tender.
  6. Mix Sauce: In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, gochujang, sesame oil, and rice vinegar, stirring to create a smooth sauce.
  7. Add Sauce: Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet with the vegetables, stirring well to coat everything evenly.
  8. Combine Beef: Return the cooked beef sirloin to the skillet and toss to coat it completely with the sauce and vegetables.
  9. Add Noodles: Add the cooked noodles to the skillet, tossing well to combine all ingredients and evenly coat the noodles with the sauce.
  10. Heat Through: Continue cooking for another 2-3 minutes to allow all the flavors to meld and to heat everything thoroughly.
  11. Garnish: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the top for garnish.
  12. Serve: Serve the spicy Korean gochujang beef noodles hot and enjoy this quick and delicious meal.

Notes

  • If you prefer a spicier dish, increase the amount of gochujang slightly or add a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes.
  • Substitute beef sirloin with chicken breast or tofu for a different protein option.
  • Use gluten-free soy sauce if you need the recipe to be gluten free.
  • Cook noodles al dente to maintain texture when tossed in the sauce.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
