Description

A flavorful and healthy Teriyaki Turkey Stir Fry loaded with tender ground turkey, fresh vegetables, and a homemade tangy teriyaki sauce. Perfect for a quick weeknight dinner that’s both satisfying and nutritious.

Ingredients

Scale

Sauce Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 cup water, divided
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated or minced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest

Main Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 3 cups broccoli florets, fresh or frozen
  • 1 small onion, small diced
  • 1 cup shredded carrots
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce: Combine 3/4 cup water, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, honey, and brown sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring the mixture to a low boil, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk together 1/4 cup water and cornstarch until smooth, then slowly pour it into the boiling sauce while whisking continuously. Continue cooking and stirring until the sauce thickens. Remove from heat, stir in the orange zest, and set aside to keep warm.
  2. Cook the Stir Fry: Heat sesame oil in a wok or large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the diced onion and cook until it softens and becomes translucent. Add the ground turkey and cook thoroughly until no longer pink, breaking it apart as it cooks. Stir in the broccoli florets and shredded carrots, cooking until the vegetables turn tender but still crisp, about 5 minutes.
  3. Combine and Simmer: Reduce the heat to medium-low and pour the prepared teriyaki sauce over the cooked turkey and vegetables. Stir well to coat everything evenly and allow the mixture to simmer for a few minutes so the flavors meld together. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  4. Serve: Spoon the teriyaki turkey stir fry over steamed white or brown rice, and enjoy a delicious, wholesome meal.

Notes

  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer a less salty dish.
  • Substitute ground turkey with ground chicken or tofu for variation.
  • Feel free to add other vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for extra color and nutrition.
  • Make sure to whisk the cornstarch mixture well to avoid lumps in the sauce.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
