Description

These mouthwatering Butter Burgers feature juicy, cheese-melted beef patties cooked in butter and served on toasted brioche buns with fresh toppings and optional condiments. Perfectly seared on a skillet, these burgers combine rich, buttery flavors with classic fixings for the ultimate comfort meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Beef Patties

  • 2 pounds ground beef (80% lean)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/2 cup salted butter (softened, divided)
  • 8 slices American cheese

Buns & Toppings

  • 4 brioche hamburger buns
  • 4 slices red onion
  • Tomato slices
  • Lettuce (optional)
  • Sliced pickles (bread and butter or dill)

Condiments (optional)

  • Mayonnaise
  • Ketchup
  • Mustard

Instructions

  1. Season and shape patties: Sprinkle salt and pepper over the ground beef. Divide into eight equal 1/4-pound portions. Form each into a patty slightly larger than your buns, as they will shrink during cooking.
  2. Chill the patties: Cover the patties with plastic wrap and refrigerate to help them hold their shape and enhance flavor.
  3. Butter the buns: Spread softened butter liberally on the inside surfaces of each brioche bun to prepare for toasting.
  4. Toast the buns: Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place the buns butter-side down and toast until lightly browned. Remove and optionally brush the top of each bun with some of the remaining butter from the skillet.
  5. Cook the patties: Add additional pats of butter to the hot skillet. Place the beef patties onto the skillet, pressing gently with a spatula. Cook about 2 minutes on one side until nicely browned.
  6. Flip and add cheese: Flip each patty over, cover each with a slice of American cheese so it can melt while the second side cooks, about 2 more minutes.
  7. Prepare buns with toppings: On each toasted bun bottom, layer your choice of condiments, tomato slices, onion slices, pickles, and lettuce as desired.
  8. Assemble burgers: Stack two cooked cheese-topped patties per bun bottom. Place the bun top on the patties to complete the burger.
  9. Serve immediately: Serve your buttery, flavorful burgers hot for the best taste experience.

Notes

  • Use 80% lean ground beef for the best balance of juiciness and flavor.
  • Butter the buns generously for rich flavor and crispy texture.
  • Pressing the patties gently helps them cook evenly without losing juices.
  • Adding cheese when flipping ensures it melts perfectly without overcooking the beef.
  • Customize with your favorite condiments like mayonnaise, ketchup, or mustard.
  • Optional lettuce adds fresh crunch but can be omitted if preferred.
